Nestled within the historic, cobbled streets of Sa Penya, in the heart of Ibiza’s UNESCO World Heritage old town, this project was a delicate exercise in honouring history while creating modern comfort. The challenge of a small historical house is always unique: our goal was to transform its compact footprint into an intimate and functional retreat without sacrificing its authentic soul.
Our design approach was rooted in a deep respect for the building’s past. We carefully preserved and celebrated original features like weathered Sabina wood beams and exposed stone, allowing their rustic character to define the atmosphere. The material palette is intentionally humble yet of the highest quality, focusing on natural textures. Traditional lime-wash paints, terracotta, and warm woods create an earthy, serene colour scheme that feels both timeless and deeply connected to the island’s heritage.
To bring a sense of coziness and understated luxury to the small space, every element was considered. Bespoke joinery provides clever storage, while the focus on tactile, high-quality materials provides a palpable warmth. The result is a serene sanctuary that feels like a precious jewel box—a home that proves even the most modest of spaces can exude profound comfort and character.
